I believe many of us (English is a second language) would like to have the subtitle displayed at the bottom of the video movie while the movie is playing.
In the past, if I want the subtitle to appear in the movie, I would look for the subtitle file (.srt) and download it. After ensuring that the subtitle filename is the same as the video name and sit in the same folder as the latter, the subtitle will then appear during the video playing session.
Well, with the VLSub addons, one can kiss goodbye to such a time consuming and irritating task. By putting the vlsub.lua file in the vlc/lua/extensions folder, one can practically make the subtitle appears on the fly. While watching the movie in VLC player, click the View tab, select VLC sub 0.9.
The VLC sub windows will pop up, letting you to search the movie subtitle by name or hash. You just have to click either one of the selection tab and then the add on will search the appropriate subtitle and display them on the big empty space in the middle. Next select the subtitle file by clicking it once (it will be highlighted) and then click the Download Selection button.
The add on will then download the file and display its corresponding dialogue at the bottom of the screen. The best part is while you are doing all these, your movie watching can proceed in the play mode as normal (no need to pause the video).
